Accounting Intern

Marcus Hotels & Resorts is seeking a part time Accounting Intern who will be responsible for assisting with period-close, account reconciliations, corporate reporting, and special projects at the direction of the Senior Director of Finance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and attention to detail skills and must enjoy working in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment where accuracy is a must. This position will be based out of our corporate office in Milwaukee, WI. This opportunity will require 16-24 hours during the school year.

What you will be doing:

• Analyze information to prepare and enter journal entries into the Financial System.
• Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts.
• Actively participate in the period close process by performing reviews of financial statements and collaborating with other accounting team members as needed.
• Provide accounting support to the hotels operations departments.
• Pursue efficiencies and process improvements.

What we are looking for:

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program for Accounting or Finance
• Knowledgeable with regard to MS Office Suite
• Possess strong interpersonal, verbal, analytical, and written communication skills
• Desire to learn and contribute in a team-based environment
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining organized and detail oriented
• Willing and motivated to learn new skills, tasks, and software systems to meet the changing demands of the industry
• Ability to be on site in our Milwaukee office and work during the school year

Salary Estimate: $20-$25/hr
